Why Wildlife Photography Workshops Are the Fastest Way to Improve

Reading a manual teaches you settings. Watching a tutorial teaches you concepts. But wildlife photography workshops teach you decisions, the split-second judgment calls that separate a sharp, well-composed image from a blurred near-miss. That kind of learning only happens in the field, with an experienced guide who can see what you are seeing and tell you in real time what to change.

Explore the highly productive boardwalk wetlands of Wakodahatchee and Green Cay. These locations provide unparalleled, eye-level access to nesting birds, making it the perfect environment to practice portraiture, behavioral shots, and capturing chicks in the nest.

Miami Burrowing Owl Photography Workshops

Join a specialized workshop focused on South Florida’s unique, ground-dwelling burrowing owls. Learn how to respectfully approach and photograph these charismatic birds outside their burrows without causing disturbance, capturing intimate portraits and dynamic flight shots.

Everglades National Park Wildlife Photography Tours

Experience the vast, wild beauty of the Everglades. This iconic ecosystem is ideal for photographing American alligators, wading birds, and unique landscapes in dramatic morning and evening light.

Orlando Wetlands Nature Photography Workshop

A massive, nutrient-rich habitat that attracts massive flocks of birds. This location is fantastic for practicing tracking techniques on birds in flight, including high-speed passes by raptors and waterfowl.

Fort De Soto Park Shorebird Photography

Located on the Gulf Coast, this park is a world-class destination for photographing migratory shorebirds, wading birds, and ospreys diving for fish in the shallow coastal waters.

National & International Wildlife Photography Tours

These wildlife photography workshops take place at some of the most productive and photogenic wildlife habitats on earth.

Bosque del Apache, New Mexico Wildlife Photography Workshops

The Bosque del Apache workshop is one of the most spectacular experiences available anywhere in North America. Tens of thousands of sandhill cranes and snow geese winter at the refuge. Photographers travel from around the world to capture the dramatic “blast-offs” and fly-ins against the stunning dawn and dusk light of the New Mexico desert. (Ask about private 1-on-1 intensives available during the winter season).

Arizona Hummingbird Photography Tours

Put yourself in the middle of some of the most diverse hummingbird habitats on earth. Located in Sedona and Madera Canyon, this workshop focuses on high-speed flash photography and ambient light techniques to capture Rufous, Broad-tailed, and Magnificent hummingbirds hovering in extraordinary light.

Costa Rica Wildlife Photography Masterclass

Few destinations pack as much biodiversity into a single frame as Costa Rica. These wildlife photography tours take you through cloud forests, rainforest canopies, and coastal wetlands teeming with scarlet macaws, resplendent quetzals, toucans, poison dart frogs, and sloths. With ongoing site inspections to ensure the best locations, Costa Rica’s extraordinary density of accessible wildlife makes it one of the most rewarding destinations for photographers.

Galapagos Islands Photography Expeditions

The Galapagos represent the ultimate wildlife photography destination for one simple reason: the animals have no fear of humans. Blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas, Galapagos sea lions, and giant tortoises can be safely photographed at remarkably close range. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is the workshop for photographers who want images that simply cannot be made anywhere else on earth.

Elevate Your Vision in Our Wildlife Photography Workshops

Most photographers struggle with fast wildlife. Our wildlife photography workshops solve this problem. You will move past basic camera settings. Instead, you will learn the art of the field.

I bring 33 years of professional experience to every trip. We focus on the results that matter most. You will learn to see like a naturalist. This helps you anticipate movement before it occurs.

These wildlife photography workshops focus on three core pillars:

  • Expert Field Mentorship: Receive instant feedback while you shoot. We adjust your technique on the spot. This improves your chance of capturing the decisive moment.

  • The Naturalist’s Eye: We study animal behavior in the field. This gives you a massive advantage. You will be ready when the moment happens.

  • Pro-Level Storytelling: Great photos tell a story. We focus on behavior, light, and composition. Your images will stand out from the crowd.

Experience matters in the field. Join our wildlife photography workshops to master your craft. We focus on small groups and high-quality instruction. This ensures you get the attention you deserve.
