Ronen Tivony’s photograph of an American alligator has been selected for inclusion in the American Photography 41 award annual, one of the most prestigious juried photography competitions in the United States. The image was chosen from more than 7,000 submissions by a jury of top photo editors and creative directors at leading publications.

About the American Photography 41 Competition
American Photography has published its annual hardcover since 1985. Each edition showcases the year’s strongest commissioned and personal work across editorial, advertising, and fine art photography. Notably, selection is by jury vote only. Of the more than 7,000 images submitted to AP41, the jury chose only 370 by majority vote for inclusion in the printed book, published in November 2025. In addition, the official online and in-person exhibitions feature all selected images.
The Selected Image
The photograph shows an American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) and its reflection at Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Delray Beach, Florida. Palm Beach County manages this 3-acre constructed wetland, which draws wading birds, reptiles, and other wildlife to a boardwalk open to the public year-round. As a result, the location ranks among the most productive wildlife photography sites in South Florida. Ronen regularly leads Wakodahatchee Wetlands photography workshops at this site.
